In the 1996 Movie the Crucible the Salem Witch Trials are portrayed with a number of key features. These …show more content…
include Judge Danforth would do anything to root all evil from the land, the audience want for a witch hunt, and innocent people died. You can see this in today society in areas like Pakistan, Afghanistan, and many other countries. Malala as a child want to get a good education, she wanted to be a doctor or a politician so she could help people across her country. In 2009 the Taliban swept in swat valley (where the city is), they banned all women from going to school. Malala, outraged with the Taliban started a BBC journal telling the world of her daily life under Taliban control. She also began to appear in local media reports and interviews. She once said “how dare the Taliban my basic right to education” (local press Peshawar). She soon began receiving death threats over the radio and letters underneath her door. These events caused a stir in the swat valley with many with expressing their dislike of Malala and others telling her to stop or leave. In the 1996 movie the crucible this is like when word of witchcraft becomes rampant throughout the village and everyone is out for blood. Many people in today think that is barbaric and it never happens in this civilized world, but it still does cleverly concealed so we in our perfect civilized lives are never bothered with it.
Malala family thought that since Malala was only a child the Taliban would never go through with their threats, but on October 9, 2012 a Taliban gunman shot Yousafzai as she rode home on a bus after taking an exam in Pakistan’s Swat Valley.
She was hit with one bullet, which went through her head, neck, and ended in her shoulder. The Pakistani Taliban, claimed responsibility for the attack, saying that Yousafzai "is the symbol of the infidels and obscenity," adding that if she survived, the group would target her again. In the days following the attack, the Taliban reiterated its justification, saying Yousafzai had been brainwashed by her father. The Taliban also justified its attack as part of religious scripture, stating that the Quran "says that people propagating against Islam and Islamic forces would be killed" (Ehsanullah Ehsan taliban spokesman), also saying "Sharia says that even a child can be killed if he is propagating against Islam" (Ehsanullah Ehsan Taliban spokesman). I compare this event to Judge Danforth in the 1996 movie the Crucible, though the Taliban is no Judge Danforth (supreme law of the land), the Taliban still try to justify their attempted assassination on Islamic …show more content…
scripture.
Malala was quickly rushed to the hospital.
A girl whom once no one knew quickly became the world most known and popular teenager. She was nominated for numerous awards including Nobel peace prize. Malala has not stopped advocating for education. She go around the world talking to head of state and speeches around the world. I really think this also think about Joseph McCarthy, he made accusation of communism against everyone and people became very scared but once you gone too far everyone hates you and you have destroyed your life. Because the Taliban have promised to try to kill her again she now lives in england where she is a ninth grader. On July 12, 2013 she spoke at a UN to call for worldwide access to education. The U.N dubbed it Malala Day. At this event she said, "The terrorists thought they would change my aims and stop my ambitions, but nothing changed in my life except this: weakness, fear and hopelessness died. Strength, power and courage was born ... I am not against anyone, neither am I here to speak in terms of personal revenge against the Taliban or any other terrorist group. I 'm here to speak up for the right of education for every child. I want education for the sons and daughters of the Taliban and all terrorists and extremists." While toward the end of the Salem witch trial people felt bad for the hanged people in Pakistan Malala efforts are getting mixed reactions. While many people support her work for education for women, some people condemn it
while other people think that she is a CIA spy or western “puppet”.
I think the life story of Malala is related with the Salem witch trials and Joseph McCarthy. Judge Danforth and Joseph McCarthy being the Taliban. The people getting hanged in the Salem witch trials and the innocent people being accused of being communist the girls who were banned from going to school in Pakistan. This injustice is one of the many injustices in today society. So next time when think how much you hate school or how you would rather be home, we are actually very fortunate to have many of the basic luxuries that many other kids around the world don’t have
