They are terms which are related to 'contingencies which might affect the contract of employment in this case.' This is what 'parties intended but left unwritten in the gap of a contract.' There are five conditions by which a contract would be satisfied before a term would be implied. The famed Medici family of Florence produced 4 Popes, 3 queen regents of France, and engaged in countless acts of assassination and subterfuge. This was representative of the Italian society where Baldassare Castiglione wrote his masterwork, The Book of the Courtier. Italian politics and culture was shaped by the fact that Italy consisted of many autonomous city states that each had their own royal courts, standing armies, cultures, and rulers. This divisiveness in politics helped to foster an extremely stratified society in regards to class and gender. This social stratification causes Castiglione’s definition of the perfect courtier to differ immensely from his definition of the perfect Court woman, and it causes the characteristics of his…

Most couples when found upon the concept of a wedding are not handed a guide book to a successful loving marriage. Couples appear to have a vague understanding of their commitment to marriage. A long life journey full of unexpected surprises, and adjusting accommodations. Eric Bartels, the author of “My Problem With Her Anger,” contends he feels compelled by the division of household work, and the lack of support from his wife. Such as lack of communication and anger management. Conversely, in “The Difference Between a Happy Marriage and Miserable One: Chores,” Wendy Klein, Carolina Izquierdo, and Thomas N Bradbury describe how different couples within a marriage handle chores, depending on a respect for mutual boundaries, support…

I was so shocked to read how a mother let her own son go on a subway in New York which is one of the most dangerous places a child can be in. Also Even though the mother Lenore Skenazy provided her son with a subway map,a MetroCard and money I still thought that she was insane until I read her other two articles one of which is called “More From America's Worst Mom:9-Years-Old on The Subway, Continued” as well as “A Different Kind of Back-to-School Sail” which convinced me that parents are way too protective and they think that they can protect their kids from everything that seems or looks dangerous,by keeping their eyes on them their(children) whole life, even though they(parents)in reality parents can’t protect their children like they think.Plus…

The issue of gender wage gap had been the focused of several studies in the Philippines. According to the 2013 report of the Asian Development Bank, there is a 29% gender gap between men and women in the labor force in the country. The lower labor force participation rate of women as compared to men is represented by underutilization of women’s labor in the paid labor market. The said underutilization might be caused by inferior employment and decent work opportunities, human capital differences, and unpaid domestic labor and care constraints.…

With the increase in female employment rate in developing countries, new opportunities are available in high flexibility labour markets. Feminisation of labour force has taken place with the expansion of export-oriented manufacturing sector in many industrializing countries, which leads to the creation of new opportunities for wage employment for women (Mahmud). As a result of this, women are now capable of being a source of income to support the family. Besides that, opening up industrial and former enterprises in the South gives some sort of freedom and improves the status of the poor working women (Rahman). This comes from earning wages, being able to make decisions, having a greater voice in the community and enjoying greater mobility (Rahman). Female labour is also said to be more suited to the more flexible and informal new modes of production which allows female employees to fulfill their responsibilities at home and also the workplace. Nonetheless, the downside of this flexibility of labour is that female employees would typically be taking on jobs that are part-time,…

No country in the entire Arab world is free from racial discrimination and race. In Arabic, the term “Abed “is used for a black person or a slave, it’s one of the biggest words of discrimination, and no one is here to stop the people who are using the word “abed” for their maids, this is an example also for the verbal abuse to these migrants who are physically looked upon as inferior due to their positions as servants, and they are being abused by both agencies and employers. It has been confirmed that every week one maid at least dies in Lebanon, either by an employer’s hand or from suicide. Unfortunately, few laws exist to protect foreign maids, so this issue let the employer abuse the maid without thinking that he will be punished, so employers are let of the hook. Furthermore, the discrimination was growing against black and maids in swimming pool and beaches in Lebanon, in the capital of Lebanon – Beirut- Black are not allowed to enter the swimming pool because they consider them as dirty people because of their profession and skin color, It is hard to believe that they post in the swimming pools that radio and cameras are not allowed, playing with palettes is not allowed and maids are not allowed, people should not be excluded from swimming pools because of race, skin color, social class, gender or social status.…

I would like to share a story about my maids. I used to rely on maid services because I have two children, aged one and three respectively. When my eldest son was born, I initially sent him to a babysitter who lived nearby my area. However, the babysitter was only able to take care of my son until he was six months old due to her own pregnancy. So, because of the unavailability of my babysitter, I really needed to find a maid to look after my kids when I was away at work. My first maid was from Indonesia and I hired her in Dec 2012. She was 26 years old. She was originally from Bandung and she was a widow. She had never worked in Malaysia before and I was her first employer.…
