Transitioning from television advertisements to online video is an opportunity to better address Old Navy 's target market of the 25 to 35 year old male, based on the assumption that this demographic is more linked into online video and social media than other consumers engaged with television. The sea change in Old Navy 's concept is trying to reach the identified target consumer directly, rather than through his girlfriend, wife, sister, or mother. Old Navy is assuming that social media and videos will reach the male consumer better and inspire him to buy more than cheesy television advertisements. The reason for my appalling academic result is because I had serious family problems which have influenced my studying environment at home. Currently my father is managing his own business which has not been successful and so we have been struggling to achieve financial stability; so my family has been seriously considering whether we should continue our immigration process or at this point go back to South Korea, given such negative circumstances. This is the reason for my failure to study, as my parents were anxious about our future in Australia and this therefore lead to many arguments which gradually got close to them separating.…

Being part of two marginalized groups historically deemed inferior, Black women are distinct from Black men or White women. The binary conceptualization of Black and White womanhood assigned Black women as ‘bad womanhood’ consisting of all the negative traits of disgrace, whereas White women were attributed all the idealized aspects of “true womanhood” (Parker, 2005, p. 34). Racial and discriminatory representations of Black womanhood are centred on derogatory images such as the Mammy or Jezebel; consequently, they encounter distinctive and unexplored barriers that inhibit their career and leadership development. Drawing on the works of Patricia Parker on Black women leadership as well as Yvonne Due Billing and Mats Alevesson on feminine leadership, this paper hopes to delineate the distorted conceptualization of Black women. Primarily, it will map out how the Mammy image has influenced and affected the modern-day professional Black women. As Parker (2005) suggests, the Mammy image has had a profoundly derogatory, dehumanizing characterization of Black women; thus, the stereotype became a rationalization for economic discrimination.…
