Man on fire
Man on fire

"Man on fire" is a great and touching movie, which tells a story of a bodyguard names "John Creasy". Creasy was hired to protect a young daughter of a wealthy Mexico City couple "Pita" from getting kidnapped.

Creasy has a lot in common with Jesus. He has scars in his hands; he sometimes looks heavenwards why God has forsaken him. He has God's word on his mind and heart. And his initials, "J.C".

Creasy is a wounded American who meditates on bullets as much as he does the bible. However; he had drinking problems, living out of a whiskey bottle. One of the things that affected Creasy's life was Pita's scene with creasy, in which he refused to chit-chat with her in the car. He could not ignore her, and he decided that keeping her safe was a good reason to live.

When the kidnapping of Pita happened, someone shot Creasy four times, and left him to die. By the time he wakes up, he found out that Pita was dead. He decided now that he has one reason to live, and it was "REVENGE". He promised himself to kill everyone that had to do with Pita's kidnapping. And he did it. Creasy's transformation from a grief man to a father to a killer was a big change for him.

When Creasy talked to "the voice", he told him that he will kill his brother if he did not show up. But The Voice told him that Pita was alive! Now creasy wanted to do anything to get her back. When they met, Pita was released from the kidnappers, she saw Creasy coming to her from the bridge, and she ran crying to him. He gave her diary and sent her to her mother, while Creasy continues going to the kidnappers. Creasy crossed the arching bridge and went in their car and died looking at the mountain and holding the necklace that Pita gave him.

This movie holds a great meaning; it's a touching sad story. Furthermore; there are symbols that represented some meanings in the movie. Firstly, the arching bridge meant that Creasy is going to heaven; he is changing from place to place, in other words, from

The title of the documentary I watched is “Triangle Fire” it was made February 28, 2011 about the massive Triangle Shirtwaist Fire of 1911 that killed 146 people. The thesis of this film is mainly taking a look into the working lives of immigrants in the early 1900’s. The filmmaker’s agenda was apparent in this film and it was to expose the working conditions, and lives of these workers at the time to ensure the viewer would know the corruption that was at hand with the private industry of American factories. This film wanted to convey the message that the working conditions in factories in these times were unacceptable and they led to the biggest work related tragedy in that city to date. This film is accurate because it covers all the historical evidence that’s needed to show its viewers what the working condition were that…

Even though it seems to be aimed at a specific age-related target audience, there are many characters throughout the whole film that viewers can relate to. And that in return keeps you very intrigued, interested, and ultimately, entertained. As a viewer, the most prolific symbolism in the whole film was the metaphoric infinite abyss. As a viewer, the infinite abyss to me represents life in general, the meaning of life. Life can be a deep dark bottomless pit, you can either succumb to it, and it swallows you up, and takes you down, or you can choose, to stand at the top and scream down at it in defiance, and pave your own paths in life, and fill that abyss with meaning, purpose, friendships, family, happiness and love. When you change the way you view the world, you change everything that happens to you within it. Life is just a state of…

Although Darnay’s sacrifice did not have a huge impact, Carton’s sacrifice changed everyone's lives, and up until he dies he kept repeating “I am the resurrection and the life, saith the Lord: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: and whosoever liveth and believeth in me, shall never die”(371). Carton was known for his alcoholic abuse and was looked down upon for all the poor choices he has made. After making the decision of execution he changes Lucie’s and Darnay’s life excessively, and is now looked at with respect and honor, which he deserves. Miss. Pross was looked upon as a loving character up until the fight with Madame Defarge which caused her to “..never hear anything else in the world”(376). Although this scene may not seem as impactful as the other sacrifices it represents the innocence and trauma she experiences which will never allow her to have the same life again in the future.…

In the book Paul Street Boys one of the main characters, Nemecsek, who is a member of the Paul Street gang, could definitely be considered a Christ-figure, despite his status as an underdog. A Christ figure is a literary device, a particular way of shaping an important character in a novel. He (or she) may not match in every instance to the biblical image of Jesus, but bears enough of the characteristics to suggest the relationship. They go through suffering and in the end sacrifice themselves for people, including those who caused them the misery. They are willing to sacrifice everything they have for the benefit of others. Nemecsek remains unflinchingly loyal to his beloved leader Boka and he sacrifices himself in battle for the well-being of the Paul Street Boys; this self-sacrifice ultimately leads to his own death.…
