Introduction
Procter & Gamble Company (P&G) is an American multinational corporation which founded on October 31, 1837. Headquarter of P&G was located at downtown Cincinnati, Ohio, USA. Candle maker William Procter and soap maker James Gamble are the founder of P&G. Mission statement of P&G is "We will provide branded products and services of superior quality and value that improve the lives of the consumers. As a result, consumers will reward us with leadership sales, profit, and value creation, allowing our people, our shareholders, and the communities in which we live and work to prosper."(Procter & Gamble mission statement, 2013)
P&G is the world’s largest maker of consumer products and its business can divides into two global units which is beauty & grooming care and household care such as detergent, soap, toiletries, cosmetics, fragrances, beauty care, health care and others. P&G focus on five core strength which is consumer understanding, scale & innovation, brand-building and go-to-market capabilities. Top competitors of P&G Company are Unilever, Johnson & Johnson and Kimberly-Clark Corporation. There are more than five billion consumers in 130 countries that P&G markets its products. Moreover, P&G Company has on the ground operations in over 70 countries around the world. It also hired more than 106,000 employees.
In 2012, P&G recorded $83.68 billion dollars in sales. P&G was awarded "Global Top Companies for Leaders" as a top spot company that list on Fortune magazine, and ranked the company at fifth place of the "World's Most Admired Companies" list. In addition, Chief Executive Magazine named P&G as the best overall company for leadership development in its list of the "40 Best Companies for Leaders”.
