Air Asia
Air Asia was established in 1993 and commenced operation on 18 November 1996. Executive of Tune Air Sdn Bhd company, Tony Fernandes, and also known as a former of Time Warner had purchased from the ownership of HICOM Holding Sdn Bhd for the token sum of only RM1, and with only 2 Boeing 737-300 aircraft together with RM40 million in debt. The main nature of business of Air Asia is low-cost airline carrier. Air Asia is the largest low-fare airline company and a pioneer of low cost travel in Asia. The vision of this successful company is, ‘To be the largest low cost airline in Asia and serving the 3 billion people who are currently undeserved with poor connectivity and high fares’. Next, ‘To be the best company to work for whereby employees are treated as part of a big family’, Create a globally recognised ASEAN brand’, ‘To attain the lowest cost so that everyone can fly with Air Asia’, ‘Maintain the highest quality product, embracing technology to reduce cost and enhance service levels’, are the mission of Air Asia. The main objective of low cost carriers is to increase their reach and provide the services to a large segment. There are some competitors of Air Asia such as Malindo Airways where they’ve offering competitive fares on lucrative routes such as free snacks, a booked luggage allowance and enlarged seats. Air Asia is fall into logistics industry whereby they provide some services such as airline; Air Asia X, hotels; Tune Hotel and telecommunication; Tune Talk.
