Management and Sandwich Blitz Unit
After reviewing the Eight Steps in “Rethinking Integrity,” By Sherman, Stratford, I believe that Dalmen and the location manager need to “Do the Right Thing.” Doing the right thing entails being aware of what’s right and it comes with the obligation of taking the right action. This means standing up for your principles and accepting the consequences. The most influential attribute a business can have in integrity. I believe that when business integrity is present within the company and not just on the surface, it becomes the most vital part of the company’s philosophy, and can determine whether or not it succeeds or fails.
Integrity begins with the company leader who understands and adheres to the qualities of integrity. I believe that with everything I have read about Sandwich Blitz and Dalmen and Lei, the business is sound and was based on integrity. By “doing what is right,” Dalmen and Lei have been fortunate to have had the opportunity to expand their business to several locations and continually make a profit. By not “doing what is right” in this instance, it would destroy everything they were founded upon.

Creating a position between the CEO and location managers would be somewhat a good idea. I see that as a bad idea for them right now because how they are running their business it’s a day to day decision. If they create that position that’s another salary they have to afford and it doesn’t seem like they are ready for it yet. A good thing about it is that they can have a certain person focus on the pros and cons of the business and see the inside and outside of the business. It seems to be that they want to hire an area director to go around to locations and see how the sales are and how the store is being run. Also that person can help Dalman and Lei advertise their business and try to get it on local radio stations, flyers, newspaper, and coupons for repeating customers, and maybe even designing a mascot to go on the sidewalk and pass out the coupons and bring people in.…

Using self-managed teams within the Sandwich Blitz company would help the company grow. This will also allow Dalman to have more time to concentrate on the expansion as well. Self-managed teams empower employees most often in manufacturing, workers are trained to do all most of the jobs in the unit, they have no immediate supervisor, and they make decisions previously made by the first-line supervisors (Bateman & Snell, 2012). Self-managed teams can offer several possible advantages that could be used at Sandwich Blitz; including stronger commitment, employee and customer fulfilment, improved quality, improved…

Lei expand their business. Dalman and Lei strengths are their attitude towards their business, and team cooperation. I chose attitude as one of their strengths because you should have a positive attitude about everything you do or try to do. When managing your business there are many challenges that employees face on a daily basis. A positive attitude is a key component to a successful career. I think that Dalman and Lei are positive individuals and they are team players that know how to collaborate with other their staff. I also chose team cooperation for Dalman and Lei strengths. The reason I chose team cooperation as their strength because in order to run a successful business and agree with ideas such as expanding the business, Dalman and Lei should have team cooperation so they want feel as if they are alone in deciding or going through with expanding their building. Everyone should be on the same page with no regrets in order to have a successful business. There is not “I” in team. Dalman and Lei needs to stick together in order to expand their business. Dalman and Lei opportunity is expanding their business so they make more money and Dalman and Lei can make more decision of what they want to do if expanding their business become a success. Dalman and Lei weakness are not having enough money to expand their business. In order to expand their business they should be financially stabled and have back up money just in case something goes wrong. Finally, Dalman and Lei threats will be the other business that is in the area where Dalman and Lei want to expand to. Dolaman and Lei should carefully pick their destination on where they want their business to expand at because if it is restaurants where Dalman and Lei want to expand their business at then they should be…

This is exemplified in building the personal connection between employees and customers during the shopping experience. My values of character and integrity are of benefit to this focus. As character and integrity is demonstrated to the employees, they in-turn will demonstrate it to the customers. The customers will perceive character and integrity as sincerity, and will be inclined to trust the employees to assist them in their decisions and purchases. After reviewing Stratford Sherman Eight Steps toward Integrity, it has different components of business ethics that businesses can use as a basic guideline. The Eight Steps toward Integrity include: doing what we say we will do, doing the right thing, taking responsibility, supporting our own weight, holistic thinking, checking the mirror, defining the rules and values. The first step is doing what we say we will do which “includes keeping promises and meeting deadlines… —and often, tough negotiation—prior to making commitments.” (Stratford Sherman). Doing the right thing includes being aware of what’s right and performing the right actions. This also includes accepting the consequences. Taking responsibility is simply taking responsibility for your actions. Supporting your own weight “means functioning as a whole.” (Stratford Sherman). Holistic thinking is “an appreciation of wholeness in the world supports its practice.” (Stratford Sherman). Checking the mirror is taking the time to do an honest review of you or as Sherman said pause for reflection. Defining the rules and values is simply rules about the basics that can be applied to almost anything from couples to organizations.…
