Thinking about complexity is not to “think about a new problem”, but rather to “think in a new way about a problem that has always existed”.
First of all, we should think about what is the basis of complex thinking? The article gives the answer: Association of ideas or mental association has always been an integral part of scientific thinking. In today's increasingly complex world, being able to associate knowledge and different disciplines has become a considerable advantage.
Secondly, why should we think complexity? The video< Think about complexity>, Edgar Morin put up an example of the planetary era in which we are currently living. We realize that there is a fabric that weaves together all the interactions between politic aspects, economic aspects, demographic aspects, social aspects and so on so forth. In other words, all aspects are intertwined and complexity takes into account. So thinking in a way that integrates everything that is related is not an easy task. On the other hand, inability to connect things together overshadows the most essential and far-reaching problems and can even cause us to lose sight of things or be completely blinded.
Then let’s see what complexity thinking has change the scientific and whole world. From the article we could know that as early as the 1970’s Prigogine, Nobel Prize winner in Physics, and further Murray Gell-Mann developed the idea that the truth is equivalent to a field of possibilities more than a unique mathematical solution. Ilya Prigogine has proposed some variables which should be taken into consideration when doing complex thinking. Time is one of the main focuses of his scientific efforts.
