Managing Workforce Divercity in Multinational Companies
Over the past decades, as a result of globalization especially in the business world, operating as a multinational company has become as an opportunity for the businesses to grow and develop faster. As Iverson pointed out, the significant benefit that organizations can have from being multinational is to take advantage of an expanding talent pool of workers (Iverson, 2000: p.31)
Dubai can be a good example to prove that multinational workforce is a growing opportunity, according to Dubai government, Dubai comprises a workforce from 200 nationalities and it one of the fastest growing city in the world. In addition, however MNCs can take advantage of having diversified workforce, it can consider as a challenge for them as well. Due to the reason that multinational companies are hiring staff from different nationalities with different culture and background, they will face challenges in managing such environment and it is believed by Williams & Bauer that only the companies that are able to successfully manage this diversity will continue to grow and be competitive (Williams & Bauer, 1994; Woods & Sciarini, 1995). In this paper first we will have quick look at the benefits of working as a multinational company to be convince that it is worth it to deal with resulted challenges. Then the main focus is to address these challenges and come up with appropriate recommendations to manage it.

Multinational employees is consider a valuable source of relevant information that able the company to cross the borders and reach to other cultures. In other words it increase the adaptability of the firms and allows them to have broader service range. For example, 80 percent of coca Cola’s operation is overseas. According to the chairman and CEO of Coca Cola, Mr. Neville (2009:68), and “Leveraging the diverse people, ideas, talents and capabilities of our organization is integral in achieving sustainable growth in the market place”.
