Around the atomic cities there were military checkpoints that you would have to go through when you were to enter or leave one of the cities. They were able to keep the towns where they were conducting the research and experiments a secret because the towns were very small in large isolated states. They put them in places most people had never heard of. The United States went as far to move, relocate, and take over towns that weren't in very obvious locations to hide it from the public's view and if you were living in the atomic cities you couldn't leave whenever you wanted or have people come in they had to have a good reason for entering or leaving the cities (National …show more content…
The United States needed to keep the making of the nuclear weaponry away from the axis powers because they didn't know how they would use the power of the nuclear weapons and we didn't want anyone else to be making the super weapons . They also had many methods of keeping it a secret from the axis powers and the world from censoring mail and using propaganda as an influence people to stay quiet about anything they heard, did, or saw.
