To use the power of manipulation a person must use another person’s weakness. Although the witches put the idea of power in Macbeth’s mind, his wife, Lady Macbeth, acts as a much-needed cheerleader in convincing Macbeth to go through with their diabolical plan. Lady Macbeth taunts Macbeth continuously after he confesses his fear that the plan may not yield the results they crave, but “screw [Macbeth’s] courage to the sticking-place, and [they’ll] not fail” (1.7.60-61). The absence of Lady Macbeth’s vindictive dialogue would have kept Macbeth in an internal battle. Lady Macbeth refuses to let her husband abandon the plan, even though he attempts to do so. She makes sure that the evil inside Macbeth triumphs over whatever good intent lived inside him before the murder of Duncan.…

To begin with, Macbeth is greatly influenced by Lady Macbeth. She “is depicted by Shakespeare as an equal of Macbeth in the realm of ambition and ruthlessness; without her, in fact, Macbeth's courage may never have reached the ‘sticking-place’” (Moss & Wilson 7). She convinces him to commit the murder of King Duncan, as well as convinces him that murder is the only way to achieve their ambition. Rather than listening to his own conscience, which tells him to “...proceed no further in this business” (Shakespeare I.VII.34), Macbeth allows his wife to manipulate and convince him by accusing him of not being a man and expresses that she would “...dashed the brains out...”…

Shakespeare presents several situations to his audience where Macbeth is made to think by the three witches that the Scottish throne is rightfully his destiny, with their prophecies, encouraging him to commit regicide. During the start of the play the writer critics the ability of self-control when Macbeth is presented with the idea of opulence. Although without the witches foretelling the thought of murder wouldn't have crossed Macbeth's mind, however Macbeth "burned in desire to question further" (1.5), after the weird sister's declarations of Macbeth's future. Shakespeare uses a metaphor to describe Macbeth's compulsive curiosity of showing great interest towards the weird sister’s prophecies, thus implying to the readers that he is showing great…

Her own ambitions of being queen alongside her husband motivated her to plot a wicked act to overthrow or maybe even kill the king. Lady Macbeth first realizes the possibility of being queen in act 1, scene 5, lines 14-15 in which she states, “ Glamis thou art, and Cawdor; and shalt be what thou art promised.” When she hears of the news, she immediately begins plotting to gain her husbands desire to be king but while doing so, she questions Macbeth as well as his abilities and personality. Lady Macbeth’s first instinct is to act with cruelty rather than loyalty, revealing her dark nature which go to beyond measures to obtain her desires. Also, starting from line 15 of Act 1, Scene 5, Lady Macbeth states, “Yet do I fear thy nature; it is too full o’th’milk of human kindness to catch the nearest way”; in other words, Macbeth is a good-hearted man. She knows her husband too well to believe that he would be willing to do any wicked act such as murder especially against the king. As a result, she resolves to convince her husband to do whatever is required to seize the crown. She also believes that by putting her femininity aside, she can possibly…

Throughout the play, Lady Macbeth majorly impacts her husband's decision making and brainwashes him. She convinces him from the start to act on whatever thoughts he might have. He states to himself;“From now on, every deed that my mind imagines will be carried out by my hand at once” (IV.i.161-163). This evil woman threatens Macbeth with his manhood to get him to do what she wants him to. She says, “What beast was't then / That made you break this enterprise to me? . When you durst do it, then you were a man;” (I.vii.47-49). If he really was a man, he would be able to commit the crime of murder with no problem or fear. The witches could also impact how Macbeth would usually act on things. If the witches weren’t part of the play he would not have even known he was going to become Thane of Cawdor or King. After two of the witches prophecies were accurate, he trusted them completely. Lady Macbeth, and the witches had a huge roll of power throughout the play having great impact on Macbeth.…
