Case Study 1: Romeo
What are the client’s strengths and how can you apply these strengths to appropriate interventions?
Romeo’s strengths include the capability to open up to me about his attempted suicides, gang involvement, and drug use. Also, one other strength Romeo has, is that he has great aspiration to improve his life. Romeo is stepping outside of his barrier and speaking with me about the hardships in his life.
Using three different appropriate interview techniques identify each technique as you work towards appropriate interventions with the client. To do this you will need to develop a brief dialogue. Remember to consider any ethical and cultural issues. Note these at the end of your dialogue.

Me: Romeo, what do you want us to focus on today’s session? (Tried and True Questioning)
Romeo: I do not like the fact that I want to commit suicide.
Me: You seem somewhat agitated and ready for a change in life! (Sustaining Technique)
Romeo: Yes! I am tired of the way I am living. I have nothing, which makes me feel very depressed.
Me: What connections do you see between your lifestyle and your mood? (Elaboration)
Romeo: Well, when I smoke marijuana I feel calm. If I do not smoke, then I am agitated. If I have money, than I feel important. But when I do not have money, I feel depressed.
What goals would you want to work the client on based on the information available? Explain why you chose those goals and how you think they will help meet the client's needs. Tip: remember that goals are different from case tasks and referrals you might make to benefit the client and their situation.

The goals that I would work towards achieving with Romeo are to improve his self-esteem and confidence. Secondly, I would also want to help him figure out who he truly is and the direction in life he wants to strive for. Lastly, another goal I would work on with him is to get him to express his emotions and

I first met Romeo when he was just a little child, born in a society absorbed in hatred. Romeo had a good life but was lonely. His parents did not have the time or energy to look after him and show him the attention he deserved. I often saw him wondering the streets at night misbehaving. Once I saw him steal a loaf of bread of his best friend Benvolio. As Benvolio treated him with insults, I came along and paid for that loaf of bread and took him back to my cell to teach him some life lessons.…

For instance, Benvolio asks, “ It was. What sadness lengthens Romeo’s hours?” (I.i.168), Romeo answers, “Not having that which makes them short.” (I.i.169). Being one of Romeo’s first lines, this reveals a lot about his character. Romeo is constantly being overtly dramatic in terms of love. In addition, when referring to why he must carry the light, Romeo says, “I am too sore empierced with his shaft / to soar with his light feathers”(I.i.19-20). Romeo refuses to dance due to his pain. The irony in that is that, at the party, he will find a new love and forget about Rosaline. Finally, when first seeing Juliet at the party, Romeo says, “Did my heart love til now? Foreswear it sight, / For I ne’er saw true beauty til this night” (I.v.59-60). Romeo, after only going to the party to see Rosaline, falls in love with Juliet, showing his character trait of being willy-nilly with his love. It is this sequence that starts the problems in this play because had Romeo never commented on Juliet, Tybalt would have no reason to kill Mercutio and get Romeo banished after Romeo’s revenge. It is Romeo’s over-the-top love that causes a lot of the problems in the…

Juliet is proven to be a naive romantic who quickly becomes devoted to her current person of interest. If Juliet moved to Radnor, the subject that she would like most would be english, it seams as if she has a rather large vocabulary and articulates herself in a nice way, this is shown when she says," O, here Will I set up my everlasting rest, And shake the yoke of inauspicious…

Romeo was also a vey loving person who wanted nothing but love with another person. At first he felt that he was in love with a Lady Rosaline. I remember one day, Romeo visited me in need of my advice. It turns out he was lovesick and depressed that Rosaline didn’t love Romeo as much as Romeo had loved her, and the fact that she decided to become a nun. Feeling sorry for Romeo, I told him to find another woman in Verona, also his friends…
