This paper is about Margaret Cochran Corbin. She was the first wounded woman of the American Revolution. She was a strong woman and an interesting person. Margaret Cochran Corbin was a woman who fought in the American Revolution war that was her job. This paper is about her early life, adult life, and contribution to the Revolutionary War. This paragraph is about Margaret Cochran Corbins early life. Margaret was born in Chambersburg, Philadelphia on November 12, 1751 to Sarah and Robert Cochran. Her parents were born in Ireland and traveled to America. When she was 5 her dad was killed and her mom was kidnapped by Indians. And her and her brother went to live with her uncle. Then when she was older she was in the war. She was in the war with her husband. Margaret’s adult life was about her being in the war and the consequences. She married John Cochran. She followed him to the war to fight for the Patriots. Margaret Cochran Corbin was in the war with her husband. She also worked and lived at West Point after the war from 1781 until she died. Margaret was a patriot. Her husband died while firing his cannon in battle. Then she took over her husband’s cannon. She ran a 6 pound cannon that was most of the time handled by four men. She was one a strong woman! Her cannon was the last to fire in the battle. A cannon ball hit her in her left side. It smashed her left jaw and wrecked her left arm. She was taken prisoner after they lost the battle of Fort Washington. The British sent her back to the Patriots at West Point for medical care. When she was at West Point she worked there.
