I chose to watch “Maria Llena de Gracia”. This was a touching movie about a young, Hispanic girl who grew up in Colombia. For work, Maria strips thorns off of roses in a local rose factory. After quitting her job in anger, her family insists that she return to work and apologize for her actions. Being poor, her family needed her income. Although, Maria somewhat rebels. She dates a guy who leads her into being a “drug mule”. A “drug mule” is someone who smuggles drugs within their body for monetary compensation. This leads to a dangerous situation that even results in death. This movie shows the financial struggles that people face in their day-to-day lives. These financial hardships sometimes lead to bad decisions.
