Career Exploration - Nurse
The requirements for nursing (BSN) are bachelor 's degree in science in nursing. The initials BSN stand for Bachelor 's of Science in Nursing. A BSN degree takes at least four years to complete. Students spend two years taking liberal arts classes. After they take that they have to take two years of coursework specific to the major. Once you have graduated from the program you must pass state licensing exams in order to practice nursing.
An RN is a registered nurse. R.N.s have two choices; they can have a two-year degree at a community college or school of nursing. Or they can choose to have a four-year college degree at a college or university. Someone with a BSN has an advanced degree; you have to get it before pursing additional education; that’s the differences between BSN and RN.
The outlook for the present and future job market for nursing is growing. And it’s one of the fastest growing jobs for the next decade. The reason is that the advanced technology and the increasing health concerns is causing for more nurses. People have a theory that from 2008 to 2018 there will be an increase up to 22% for nursing jobs. From the past and now it’s always been growing. The reason is again the increasing of health concern and advanced technology.
There are several different types of nursing opportunities; it’s endless. There’s range of settings and a range of fields in nursing, also you it allows you to change the settings when you need to. Nursing offers so many choices that’s why a lot of people this days becoming nurse besides the good payment. One of the types of nursing is general nursing, it’s when you care for hospital patients with post operatively or they have a medical condition. Pediatric nursing is when you care for newborns or children. But there’s more nursing specialties that are related to pediatrics. For example pediatric intensive care, pediatric oncology, care for infants, etc.
