The Truth about Marijuana
When people hear marijuana they hear all the negative trends set by the media. They hear drugs, prison and negative influences and the term gate-way drug. Marijuana is illegal in most states and frowned upon by many. Even though there is medical marijuana, which is more intense than street weed, medical marijuana is legal in seventeen states. These states include Alaska, California, Arizona, Colorado, D.C, Colorado, Delaware, Hawaii, Maine and New Jersey to name a few. Marijuana is not the only the only word used to define cannabis. They are plenty of street names for marijuana such as Buddha, tree, green, ganja, grass, pot, reefer, maryjane, sweet cheeba and bud. Cannabis in its most familiar form is marijuana. Marijuana is derived from the Mexican word maraguanquo which means “intoxicating plant”. Some people site historical information in which the name was used to create a evil image for use of cannabis or any other THC components. The process of developing marijuana is a timely matter. You can either grow it in a controlled are inside or naturally outdoors. But you can’t just put a seed in the dirt and expect it to grow, it’s like a baby it involves your full attention and needs to be pampered. For instance to grow a healthy plant outdoors and indoors the required food to grow is nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium. These are needed so the roots grow strong and a solid base to stand on. Some secondary foods marijuana needs to survive are calcium, sulphur and magnesium. Occasional assessments of the plant will determine whether it is healthy and stable but, these problems are easily fixed but fixing them maybe very essential to the continued growth and development of the plant. Growing indoors is fairly more difficult than growing outdoors. To grow indoors you need special requirements which are a suitable growing place, best if the space had all white walls so the light reflects off the wall and absorbed by the plant. You would also need either florescent light bulbs or a 400watt agromat bulb. The growing process ranges from 7-10 weeks indoors, but outdoors the growing process is based on Mother Nature’s schedule. Best time to harvest is late April early May. As you may know like most things there are different types of marijuana and plenty of ways to get high from it. The most popular types of marijuana are sour diesel, white widow, O.G Kush, Train Wreck and Cali Kush to name a few. These names are originated from the smell of the bud or were they’ve been grown. The ones with the strongest odor, usually the smell of skunk pee, is usually the one most people aim for to get the highest. If you traveling the best cities to purchase some marijuana is Los Angeles, Oakland, Denver and Fairbanks they’re known for the stickiest of the sticky. Each type of weed has a different high to your mind and body, the stronger the marijuana the greater the quality is for the high. But of course for the better things you have to pay a little more than usual. A few different ways to smoke or light up marijuana are from a blunt which you empty out the tobacco guts and replace it with marijuana to roll up. Some more ways are jay papers, a ceramic bong, glass bong, and a glass pipe. They’re a few home-made items that you can use as a bong to smoke and get high. For instance you can burn a circular hole on a plastic water bowl and use a socket wrench attachment small enough to fit the weed and not have it seep through. Most people use that technique when they can’t afford a bong or bowl which prices ranges from ten dollars to over one hundred dollars depending on how often you smoke and how you want to use it. Of course you would think since your inhaling smoke while smoking weed you would have the same effects as one would have smoking tobacco or cigarettes. Moderate smoking of marijuana appears to pose minimal danger to the lungs. Similar to tobacco and cigarettes smoke, weed smoke contains a number of instants. Marijuana users typically smoke much less than tobacco smokers and over time inhale less smoke. Even studies show that marijuana is NOT a cause of lung cancer. Unlike heavy tobacco users, heavy marijuana smokers show no obstruction of the lungs small airway which indicates that people will not develop emphysema from smoking marijuana. Although marijuana is illegal in many states in the United States the death rate of marijuana is zero were tobacco has an average 435,000 deaths a year and alcohol 85,000 a year and both of these substances are legal. The effects both alcohol and tobacco has on the human body is far more serious than marijuana effects and the average death rates has a lot to say on the result of these substances. The legal amount you can have on you without having a felony brought against you is 25 grams or less. But tobacco and alcohol is legal and is advertised as if it’s the new trend to follow. Since marijuana has been decriminalized in New York State it’s treated as a civil citation and a hundred dollar fine. If you carry more than that then that’s when more fines and prison time is involved and surfaces to the table of options. 25 grams to 2 ounces can result in three months of prison and if you have over two ounces to ten pounds it can result in one to five in a half years in prison and fines up to 5,000 dollars. All in all marijuana is not a drug but a herb that the earth naturally grows in certain regions of the world. Marijuana is illegal simply because its advocates for legalization rarely present an appealing use. If information was presented on the comparison of legal drugs just handed out like candy as long as your of age the argument would be much stronger than opinions. Also the impact these legal drugs have people and their lives. With it being illegal it still wouldn’t and doesn’t stop the use of marijuana but with it legal we can use it more freely without of the fear of jail or paying a fine.

Technology seems to be making a huge impact on our lives every day. The internet has everything you need to know and more. There’s search engines that can help you do your shopping, there’s games, there’s chat rooms and also recourses to help yourself out in schooling needs. However I do see how it has been taking over our world. In the story “Y2K CHATRM43” Adrein talks about how Joel spends way to much time on the computer and thinks it’s useless, however Joel sees it differently. In this story I agree with Joel, there’s so much to do on the Internet, it can be very helpful for social needs and for schooling needs. Chat groups can be used to help you out in school. Having that can help you out with understanding school work and what not. The internet is also helpful with school because teachers can put the assignments online so we can access them. Online books help out a lot also instead of having to carry that huge text book home you’ve got it all right there in front of you online. Another reason I feel as if the internet is very useful is because there’s videos online that explain school work and certain subjects. If your teacher doesn’t explain the assignment good enough for you, theres online videos that can help you get a better understanding. They say in the future all schooling will be online, all kids will have their own computers to do their work and there won’t be teacher lectures anymore! What will the future bring?…

Cannabis, better know as Marijuana, has been around since 2900 B.C. A Chinese Emperor Fu His, referenced the plant as being, “a popular medicine that possessed both yin and yang.”(ProCon.org) In America, the use of Marijuana and the concept of it has been kicked around and jumbled for hundreds of years. It has been generalized and put in a box. Beginning with George Washington, he grew Marijuana on his private plantation for thirty years. In the early 1900’s states began outlawing the herb, starting with Massachusetts in 1911. Ironically, the first arrest ever made for possession of Marijuana was in Colorado. Today, Colorado along with Washington has legalized the recreational use of Cannabis. In 1970, Marijuana was labeled as a schedule one drug that had “no accepted medical use.” In 2013, that myth has been thoroughly shot down as propaganda as we can see by the uprising in Medicinal Marijuana Dispensaries across the country. However, some people still believe the plant is a harmful and a dangerous drug. It is one of the oldest, and most effective natural medicines in human existence. Marijuana does not affect everybody the same way.…
