Marijuana, is in fact, a medicinal plant that has no recorded evidence of a fatal overdose. Continually, Weil mentions that it has been used in “Traditional medicine for millennia”. Even though there are many ‘fatal’ risks of using marijuana (i.e. Bloodshot eyes, fast heart rate, sleepiness, lethargy, lack of coordination, increase cravings for snacks) many scientists and physicians – including Weil - suggest that the benefits outweigh the risks. Nonetheless, the Clinton and Bush administrations have implemented a policy that Weil references as, “misguided, heavy-handed and inhumane”. Both administrations have conducted a plethora of raids on marijuana cooperatives functioning completely legally under California law.
