Marilyn Monroe Norma Jeane Mortensen is a name that very few people are familiar with. However, Marilyn Monroe is a name many have heard. Marilyn was born on the first of June, in 1926. She was born in Los Angeles, California. Similar to many girls across the nation, Monroe was fatherless throughout her childhood. Many young women develop issues with intimacy and trust. Marilynn went through many ordeals that tested her tolerance and ability to remain happy. Marilyn was raped and sexually assaulted in one of her foster homes that she grew up in. (Biography 1-2). Although Marilyn went through all of these trials, she was eventually led to her well-deserved life of fame.

She immediately fell in love with the man. She married Dimaggio after only two weeks. The marriage ended abruptly and shortly after the marriage. Nevertheless Monroe’s career continued to mature (theater seat store 1). As the rising star’s career grew, so did her somewhat “inappropriate” behavior. Monroe had an affair with J.F.K, the current president at the time. She also began involving herself in recreational drug use. The combination of the two led her third husband, Arthur, into sending her away to a mental hospital. Arthur told the psychiatric clinic in New York City about Monroe’s suicidal behavior and depression. The people immediately took action and locked her away in her padded cell. (Daily Mail 2-3). Marilyn did not like the idea of being locked away at all, she threw a tantrum which only made her feel worse. Oddly enough, she convinced Dimaggio, her previous husband, to come rescue her from the mental hospital. Marilyn was able to convince Joe Dimaggio to come by telling him that she needed him, which was all Dimaggio had been waiting to hear (Daily Mail 4).
