assessment from MyPlan was very accurate in determining my top values. My most important academic value is achievement. I can’t wait for the feeling of accomplishment when I earn my diploma; knowing that it took a lot of time and effort. As for my personal values, Independence really showcases my personality. Anyone who knows me can tell you that I am a very strong individual, who likes being independent and capable of taking matters into their own hands. In my career, it’s very important to me that I have good working conditions. I would like to have a safe and encouraging work environment that would help set me up for success. These values help me accomplish my purpose because they are the ethics that will lead and further me towards having a successful and fulfilling life. Moving on, Strengthsquest has helped me realize some of the assets that I have.
My top three strengths are Futuristic, Maximizer and Focus. Being Futuristic means that I have the ability to inspire people with my visions of the future. I constantly daydream about my future and plan for what’s ahead. I am always jotting down reminders in my planner or thinking about what kind of furniture I want in my future home. Being Futuristic is important to me because I love organizing everything in my life. Dreaming of what I aspire to do only gives me hope for what's to come later on down the line. My second strength is Maximizer. Maximizers are known to focus on strengths rather than weaknesses. This is important because focusing on my talents only allows me to enhance them thus creating an even better me. As for my third strength, being Focused is the most important to me. I need to have a clear destination as to what I need to do, where I am going, how I am going to do it, and why I am actually doing it. I set clear goals for myself so that I can determine what my priorities are. I also adapt myself to whatever I need to be in order to reach my target goal. All of these strengths will help me achieve my goals of becoming a professor and will also make me a stronger person in the …show more content…
end. According to MyPlan, my personal interest was conventional.
This definitely resonates my personality because I love structure and organization. I love to organize my room, car and school supplies in my spare time (for fun). I have a planner that I use to write down everything that is going on with me. It is a staple in my everyday life and I would probably be lost without it. It’s important that I have a planner because I need something to help me organize my thoughts. Having a place where I can write down my goals only gives me inspiration to accomplish what I have set for myself. This interest helps drive my purpose since it instills structure and order in my life. Being clean and organized helps me stay efficient and productive, in return, setting me up for
success. Looking back, it seems that my values, strengths and interests all sort of combine together into one major theme. They help direct and set me up to reach my goals of having my dream career of being a Marine Biology professor and also my educational goal of earning my Master’s degree. Being Futuristic and conventional helps me organize, plan and prioritize what exactly I need to do to meet these goals by earning my diploma. Having the values of achievement and independence will help drive me to accomplish what I have set for myself, and will prepare me for lifelong success. I think I knew all of these aspects of myself, but it took this assignment to really bring them to my attention. I never really focused on my strengths until I had to. This paper actually had a greater impact on me than I thought and I’m grateful that I had to do it. It took me a long time to discover what my purpose statement is but I think that I have finally found it. I finally know what I want to live for. I want to exist to spread the feeling of fulfillment, accomplishment and success to everyone including myself. I can’t wait to finish school so that way I can focus on what’s to come after that.
