Owenses received assignation threats among other intent to harm messages and terrorizations; however, they too reciprocated by sending scouts out to search for poachers and committing raids in search for weapons. By asserting their power over possible poachers and nearby villages they were able to coerce their way into a powerful position in which they were the ones to distribute social order concerning wildlife regulations and did so to benefit their agenda to help the wildlife.
