Background of the University College of the Caribbean
University College of the Caribbean (UCC) was incorporated in January 1992, then operated under the name Institute of Management and Production (IMP) and Institute of Management Sciences (IMS). The UCC adopted its new name in 2004 when IMS and IMP were merged. University College of the Caribbean was answering the call for increased access to higher education in the corporate and rural areas of Jamaica.
The university is a self-supporting, higher education institution. UCC has grown to become one of the recognized private higher education institutions in Jamaica, having gained recognition from the local accrediting body, the University Council of Jamaica (UCJ) and full matriculation status from the University of the West Indies. The university offers Associate and Bachelor’s Degrees in several faculties such as Business Administration, Human Resources and Marketing programmes.
UCC continues to grow, they recently formed alliances with the Florida International University (FIU), based in Miami in 1998 introducing the Executive Master’s in Business
