Martian Chroniclers Response

The Martian Chroniclers response paper The article The Martian Chroniclers a new era of planetary exploration by Burkhard Bilger discusses Earth and Mars known as the “Goldilocks Planets,” this is because Earth and Mars both have the perfect environment for life to be sustained. I was first observed that Mars had evidence that it could sustain life in 1877, by the astronomer Giovanni Schiaparelli. Schiaparelli drew a map of mars as an “earthly paradise.” This was because he observed that the planet had what appeared to be continents and water channels on the surface. Although, it was discovered that Mars has less water contents then earth’s driest desert. Nevertheless, because of Mar’s atmosphere and geological environment Mars has the possibly that it can sustain life. NASA has sent many space crafts to explore what is on Mars the first was the Mariner 9 then, Viking 1 and Viking 2, the
Pathfinder lander, The Mars Observer, and the Mars Polar Lander. However, if the space craft made it to mars there was insufficient evidence of life on Mars. In 2004 two rovers where sent to Mars evidence suggested that ancient microscopic organisms could have lived on Mars. Grotzinger a geologist explains that in order to find evidence of life you have to look for the right conditions in which microbes could grow and be preserved. There is a balance, a hot wet environment can foster the growth of organisms, in Michigan Bactria was found on some iron deposits Gotzinger hypothesized that since mars has a high iron content bacteria could be found on Mars. In addition to finding the right environment where bacteria can grow on Mars engineering a space craft that can navigate the rough terrain on Mars is important. After many years of constructing the space crafts, they finally landed and began to test the rock for evidence of life. High amounts of methane where found in samples this is a good indicator that there was once life, however, there was no conclusive evidence of life. I remember this space craft project was going on when I was a kid and I learned about this project as I was learning about space in school.
I really liked pictures and cameras so I would like to look at pictures of Mars and wondered what it would be like to take pictures of Mars. My dad worked as a camera engineer for HP at the time, so I got a lot of exposer to taking pictures with the test cameras and figuring out how they operated. This article relates class because we have been learning about the elements the planets are made of. Implications can lead uniformed people to think that the environment on mars is possible for life, however, Mars has a very extreme environment and lacks a thicker atmosphere for life to be sustained. I do not know enough about Mars to dispute any of the points in the article, however I thought it was cool that NASA is researching the possibility of life on Mars. I wonder if there are any other planets like Mars. What would Mars look like if it currently had life? Why do people feel lonely about the possibility that we are the only
