The Montgomery Bus Boycott was an effort by Montgomery, Alabama, for black people to sit in the seats, without having to give them to a white person. Montgomery Bus Boycott lasted 382 days from December 1, 1955 to December 20, 1956. Most people, out of the 50,000 African Americans living in Montgomery, ride the buses there. When Rosa Parks Refused to give up her seat, she got arrested. She was arrested on the same day the Montgomery Bus Boycott started.
On August 28, 1963, a quarter million people gathered to support civil rights. That was when Martin Luther King gave his “I Have A Dream” speech. The city embraced for balance. The people had to walk from the Washington Monument to the Lincoln Memorial. The people got freedom because of Martin Luther King. James Earl Ray was a murderer who was born on March 10, 1928. He shot and killed Martin Luther King on April 4, 1968. James Earl Ray died, in prison, on April 23, 1998.
