Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. faced many adversities in his lifetime. An illustration of this is located in “Martin Luther King Jr.- (Excerpts from) Letter from Birmingham City Jail”, where it states “While confined here in the Birmingham City Jail, I came across your recent statement calling our present activities ‘unwise and untimely.’” This illustrates that Dr. King was doubted by his peers. We have gone through all of these steps in Birmingham” Dr. King taught us to be persistent. He went through these steps in a cycle. They had already done all of these things once. Martin Luther King got out of jail and did all of these things again. He didn’t stop when nothing happened the first time. He kept trying.
