King presents his evidence very well to back up the importance that the direct action plan was needed; in order to have a negotiations. The use of ethos to grab the attention of the clergymen when he stated, “Birmingham is probably the most thoroughly segregated city in the United States.” Pushed the clergymen to sit up a little straighter in their chairs. But he did not stop there as he stated a fact, “There have been more unsolved bombings of Negro homes and churches than any other city in the nation.” I believe he stated his opinion first in this paragraph so that for a split second the clergymen might second guess themselves but then later be put to sorrow as he commented about the unsolved bombings. He stated this atrophy for the reason that there needs to be a direct action plan. The direct action plan will solve all of these injustices in Birmingham.
