He didn’t want supporters to become violent or bitter. He also stated that if there was no change, things will continue to get worse, as it has gotten now. This foresight into the future, is the basis of the police brutality happening in our nation today. The second most dominant element I noticed was pragmatism. King was fairly reasonable in his request, he even pointed out subtly, issues that African Americans need to avoid while making their pain relatable. Realism, trailing behind in third place, was showcased casually throughout his speech. One thing I enjoyed about the speech was that he made it inspirational and encouraging but still added a sprinkle of realism which I believe helped in saying what supporters were feeling. This made his words relatable and created empathy with his audience. I do not believe situational determinism and philosophical idealism was fairly evident in his speech. It is possible for there to be some slight evidence of these two theories however it seems to be overpowered and stressed less than my first two
