first step, she heard a deep, mysterious voice coming from another room. Mary Alice turned around slowly only to find a large figure hovering over her. It was a man who appeared to be quite young. He had long raggedy hair and a beard. “What are you doing in my castle miss?” said the scary male. “I just stumbled upon it while taking my morning walk,” replied Mary Alice as her voice was shaking.
“That is not true my little darling, there is only one path that leads to my abandoned castle.” She was scared and wanted nothing more than to just go back to her home. Without anything to say, Mary Alice turned away from the staircase and headed back for the double doors. Just as she opened the door he slammed it shut. “Now just where do you think you are going young lady?” the man's voice stern. “My mother is expecting me to be home around noontime,” Mary Alice said. “Did you not know that once you enter this castle you are forbidden to leave. This my dear is your new home,” the man said followed by a creepy burst of laughter. Right then Mary Alice knew she had made the worst mistake of her life., tears began to rush down her face. She knew better than to wander to the trail and enter the mystifying castle. The path that she chose to take was simply the path to her own death because the grungy man held Mary Alice captive for the rest of her life. She tried to escape many times, but was never successful. The man kept her chained in a dark room and Mary Alice eventually died from tuberculosis at the age of
thirty-one.
Ever since the day she took off for her stroll through the words, she was never heard of again. No one could ever find her, there was absolutely nothing left to trace her. But who is to say that her mother and father ever even made an effort to search for their ambitious daughter.
