How strong is the message of a poem?
Mary Oliver is a woman who writes amazing and Deep poems about life problems, dark introspection, and other styles of writing. The time period of the poem is not exactly define, it just explains what it happens when you have a problem with yourself. The poem “The Journey”, Mary Oliver is trying to explain the journey that we have to do with ourselves with every single struggle we have, using theme, mood, hyperbole, and the poem style.

This quote is exaggerating how someone is feeling all the heavy weight over their shoulders trying to take out without any exit. Miss Oliver tries to make the reader relate themselves with the poem, how sometimes one feels that all the heavy weight of problems is over their shoulders, and no matter how hard one tries to sole them, we can’t.
The poem style is the way how the author writes his poem, it can be free style, like in this case, organic or traditional. “determined to do the only thing you could do determined to save the only life you could save” this ending quote demonstrates that the whole poem through the beginning to the end has free styles characteristics. Mary did this poem on a free style way on purpose, to make the reader feel the poem, and transmit the deep message that it has.
This poem gives to the reader a huge message about how every single people needs to make a journey, at least one time with himself, to solve the problems that everybody has. Mary Oliver make a perfect poem in my own opinion, she describes perfectly how everybody feels when we have a problem and you feel like all the world is falling at your feet, there will always be people who tell you to stop, but you need to hear your own voice and keep going.
