The Reproductive Health Law (The Responsible Parenthood and Reproductive Health Act of 2012, (henceforth RA 10354) is an act that provides national policy on reproductive health and population development. It aims to guarantee access to maternal health care and information and methods of birth control. Additionally, the new act also commitment to eradicate poverty through responsible parenthood.
RA 10354 guarantee the rights of couples to freely and responsibly plan the number of and spacing of their children through access to all forms of legal, medically safe and effective family planning methods. The new law aim to enhance the right to health by improving maternal, newborn and child health and nutrition, reducing maternal, infant and child mortality, and lowering the incidence of abortion by preventing unplanned, mistimed and unwanted pregnancies.
The successful implementation of the aims and objectives of the new law, however, rests, in large part, on the extent of the knowledge about RA 10354 of front-line implementers, which in this case are the Barangay Health Workers (BHW). It is prudent to ask ‘How much do the BHWs know about the Reproductive Health Law?”
B. Statement of the Problem
The proposed study seeks to investigate the influence of media on the level of knowledge of Barangay Health Workers in Cagayan de Oro City on RA 10354. Specifically, the proposed study aims to answer the following questions: 1. What is the respondents’ profile when grouped in terms of the following: 2.1. Age 2.2. Sex 2.3. Level of schooling 2.4. Level of related training/seminars 2. What is the respondents’ primary source of information about reproductive health? 3. What is the respondents’ attitude towards the subject of reproductive health? 4. What is the level of knowledge of Barangay Health Workers in Cagayan de Oro City on RA 10354? 5.
