Same is the case for Chris who is portrayed as a character driven by the hunger of lust, money and power. He is only attracted to Nola’s outer beauty which is witnessed when Nola and he are having a drink together and he tells her that she has the force to attract any man with her beauty. He does not possess any internal feelings towards Nola and is only attracted by her outer beauty which is demonstrated when he immediately asks her to get an abortion after hearing the news of her pregnancy. This shows us that his feelings towards Nola are lust and not love. Chris does not love her to handle the responsibility of fathering a child and leaving his wife, Chloe, to live with Nola. After considering his options and priorities, Chris decides to stay with his wife and ditch Nola which brings up another moral issue – love driven by money.
