Alloys are extremely popular in various metal manufacturing industries. With a broad range of shapes and forms made from this reliable industrial product, alloys became known in the feedstock and fabrication industries. Forging, machining, spinning, assembly and casting are applied to produce these functional products.…
One of the first points that someone looks at when buying a truck from Chevy or Ford is the durability. One of the most important parts of a truck is considered to be the bed. Chevy uses a high-strength steel bed in their trucks which is stronger and therefore isn’t as susceptible to holes and dents as Ford beds are. Chevy also has steel mixed with other metals in their truck body and frame which prevents the truck from bending as easily as other bodies built with different materials. Chevy’s high-strength steel truck body and frame is thirty times as strong as Ford’s aluminium body and frame. Ford on the other hand uses aluminium in their bed. Although Ford also uses steel in their frame the main component that they use in their truck body is aluminium due to its lightweight. All in all Chevy wins the durability factor.…
This report will focus on a certain material called Carbon fiber. This material is being used a lot due to it is properties, for example Carbon fiber is five times stronger than steel and weighs three times less. Most cars use steel for body parts but imagine replacing steel with carbon fiber that would open a whole new road for car industries.…
The alloy steel is a material very resistant capable of withstanding forces of grate magnitude either tension or compression. Steel is not an element; it is an alloy of iron containing less than 1% carbon to make it stronger. The process of steelmaking had multiple changes in the last century to meet regulations based on the political, social and technological atmosphere, especially in the last decades since global warming became the most important factor. Steelmaking involves three steps which are melting, purifying and alloying. In the alloying process it is mixed with other elements such as manganese, nickel cobalt; depending on the desired alloy properties. The density of the alloy steel is 7850 kg/m^3, the elastic modulus is 190-210 GPa and the yield strength is 366-1793 MPa. These properties make the alloy steel the most suitable material for the Tomcat from an engineer’s perspective.…

My piano teacher once told me to first accept myself for who I am in order for others to accept me. If I did not first accept myself, why should others accept me? In Hurston’s Their Eyes Were Watching God, Janie strives to find happiness by living her life the way others want her to live it, but she misses the most important factor, so she is never truly happy. Janie feels empty, and constantly strives to find a way to fill that void. Towards the end of the novel, however, Janie realizes the key to her happiness is being able to make her own decisions based on her values. In order to find true happiness, one has to first live life without being influenced or controlled by others..…
Plain carbon steel is essentially an alloy of iron and carbon which also contains manganese and a variety of residual elements. These residual elements were either present within the raw materials used in the production process e.g. iron ore and scrap steel additions, or they were added in the production process for a specific purpose, e.g. deoxidization by means of silicon or aluminium. Hence they are called residual elements to distinguish them from alloying elements that are deliberately added according to specified minimum amounts. The term “cleanliness” refers to the amounts of various phases such as oxides, sulphides and silicates that can be present in steel. The smaller the amount of these phases, the cleaner the steel. For many years steels have been produced by casting the molten steel into moulds and allowing it to solidify into ingots which were then processed by rolling etc. steel produced by ingots is subdivided into four categories according to the deoxidization process used. These categories are rimmed, capped, semi-killed and killed steel. When un-deoxidized steel is cast into an ingot, carbon monoxide is evolved during solidification because the solubility of oxygen decreases as the temperature decreases.…

Like wise the engine is the heart and soul of your automobile, but instead of pumping plasma blood around veins, the engine compress a mixture of fuel and air. The main focus of the engine is to transform air and fuel into motion. This causes the pistons to move up and down to make the automobile to be able to drive down the road…

The Wife of Bath’s Tale Narrator: In the old days of King Arthur, of whom Britons speak great glory, this land was entirely filled with fairy power. The elf-queen danced often with her merry company in many green meadows. This long ago was the belief, as I find in books. I speak of many hundred years ago; but in our times no man can see elves any more.…
The four stroke engine includes various parts such as, intake, compression, combustion, and exhaust stroke. The term stroke is used to describe the full travel of the piston along the cylinder, in whichever direction. A four stroke engine is one of the most common engine types. It powers almost all trucks and cars today. Each one corresponds to one full stroke of the piston. All four of these parts help make the engine function as a whole.…
