    The beginning of the film is very powerful displaying a multitude of people, Hindu, Muslim, and Sikh, awaiting Gandhi in the garden to give prayers. By minute 3 and 58 seconds Gandhi is assassinated. The scene following is the State funeral given to Gandhi. This is probably one of the most powerful scenes in the movie that confirms the arrival of Indian nationalism. A state hero is put to rest in all the pomp and glory that the state could afford.
