Reasons for the changes that happened in the Production of Cinemalaya independent films.
As time passes, changes may occur even up to the smallest details in a film. Through the nine years of Cinemalaya’s independent film production it is always the story that matters and the set procedures and locations add to the color and emotion of the film itself.
Changes in set procedure and locations basically depend on the story and budget of the film. Dexter Dela Peña mentions that, “Yung budget lang yung nag-iiba sa settings, yung budget talaga yung nag-chachange sya yung nag-didictate kahit papano.” He emphasizes that in terms of set production the budget matters, just like editor Ben Gonzales, he states that, “especially when your film is for example sci-fi, props pa lang ubos na ang budget.”
There were few who think that it is still the same, “Pareho pa rin naman ng mga locations, may pagpupursige sa production design”, as Jim Libiransays. EmillioAbello also mentions that “Parang same naman, parang na syang mainstream na hindi, meron pa ring mga shoots na ganun pa rin.” It also changes depending on the theme and the story itself, as Dan Villegas says that, “Depende sya sa material, depende sya sa story, depende talaga sa script.” But Antoinnette Jadaone confirms that, “Depende sa story, magkaiba sya, pero hindi dahil sa tagal ng Cinemalaya.” While Alemberg Ang thinks that, “Nagbago depending on the topic parang less and less kasi now are about poverty.”
