Jesus made it known that faithful believers would inherit the kingdom of God. Love for your enemies followed, which is something that is very difficult to do. When someone is treating you with malicious intent for no reason it is still important to love them no matter what. Our enemies need prayer and forgiveness. We should always be striving to meet Gods expectations He is perfect and we can try and mirror His image in ourselves and others. Praising God in private instead of boasting, “ But whenever you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you. ” The power of prayer and communication with God is important. He knows us in private, behind closed doors and in our hearts.
Forgiveness is a major theme again in Matthew. God wants us to forgive others and ourselves and therefore we will be forgiven by Him.
