Mayan Communication

The Mayans communication was based on hieroglyphics. Hieroglyphics were the main ways of contacting people. They were important, but not too important compared to the other parts of their culture. The exhibit shows a child speaking to an adult on the second story off to the left to show communication. Mayans knew that they had to communicate with each other and had extra time on their hands considering it doesn’t take 20 minutes to make up a whole writing system. They used stone to carve hieroglyphics into wood or other stones. Hieroglyphics could be used in many different ways such as writing a letter, making a sign for a building, or even a label on some clay for sale. The Mayan communication system was very common among other Native American
