1. Some concepts stated in the Mayflower Compact were the need to set in place a stable form of government. It also explains how there needs to be order and rule in the formation of people, as well as being sure that the law and constitutions stay “just and equal” to avoid corruption.
2. The Mayflower Compact reflects the old and new world by speaking heavily of Lord King James, hinting that the settlers of New Plymouth are still hanging on to the old ways. Also, they state how they are constructing many the government’s ways on many of the same standards as the old world of England. But, even with the basis of the new settlement still in the old world, they wrote about how they want to approach things with a more democratic view such as having officers and equal laws.
3. The Mayflower Compact could be considered more of a strong agreement for the Pilgrims of the New Plymouth settlement to be sure that they had a functioning government and that they were following the few laws set in place to keep them in line and at peace with each other in the new world. The reason that the Fundamental Orders are different is because they were set in place to stay for a longer period of time as well as be in control of a larger and more populated area. They made more of a constitution than an agreement when making the Fundamental Orders, allowing more areas to be covered such as elections, which later led to its democratic ways.
4. The colonists of Connecticut realized that they needed a stronger, more established government if they wanted to succeed in this colony. When a man named Rodger Ludlow realized this, he wrote to the Massachusetts Governor stating that they would be stronger and more civil as one governing body, keeping peace and unity. This led to the Fundamental Orders to be constructed, being first self-governing constitution.
5. To calm the people that feared a single person could take control and rule
