The Maze of Bones written by Rick Riordan is a fiction, mystery, and adventure book. The book targeted a young adult audience, and this book is meant to entertain the reader. The title is interesting and it applies to the book because it names one of the important clues in the mystery to where the treasure is.
One of the major themes of this book is good versus evil. Amy and Dan learn that after their Grandmother, Grace Cahill, dies that she was hiding something from them, and their whole family. Amy and Dan are the only characters with good intentions. While …show more content…
other characters played one side of the fence, one played both sides of the fence. At Grace’s funeral, William McIntyre, the lawyer, hands out to certain people invites to go to the great hall for a meeting.
Once everyone was in the great hall, including Amy and Dan, he told them about her will. He told them about how their family, the Cahills, was the most important family in history.
They also had some of them most powerful people in history in their family, including Benjamin Franklin and Mozart. Grace left something special for all the people in that room. They could either take one million dollars or one clue out of 39 that could lead them to the most powerful treasure in history. The hunt for the clues will be dangerous and life-threatening. Most of the people took the money and ran, but once the room cleared there were 10 people who would accept the challenge. Another one of the major themes in this book is betrayal. For example, the relatives of Dan and Amy are greedy and will stop at nothing to get the treasure, even if it means killing each other for it. They head out on the journey not knowing if they will come back alive, or in caskets. All they know is they have to do this, for
Grace.
I liked the book, it was full of excitement and danger. He did a excellent job of writing the evil characters. In the beginning of the book the author used foreshadowing of how several characters were bullying and being mean to other characters. He continued to show the character's evil ways in the middle of the book by increasing the evilness of their actions. This book reminded me of The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins, because the characters were trying to kill each other for a prize.
Also, he did a great job of writing the good acts of the characters. One way is a character acted like a hero and protected the children, and in return the helped their hero get out of jail. Later at the end of the book, a big sacrifice was made to show the good nature of one of the main characters.
I think that this book is a 10\10 because it was action, danger, and mystery and suspenseful moments and moments where you have to keep reading to find out what happens. Anyone that is 5th and up could be able to read this book with no problem, and anyone who reads this book will love it.
