is that “Celesio operates in 13 countries in Europe and employs around 37,000 people… [with] wholesale operations in 10 countries and are one of the leading providers in Europe” (Celesio). This is just one company in the arsenal of alliances and acquisition that McKesson currently has.
A big company in the United States that is well recognized is Walmart. The alliance with Walmart “Includes expanding a long-term distribution agreement, means a bigger role in sourcing most of the 6,000-plus generic drug sold by Wal-Mart in the United States” (Layne, 2016). Additional this will allow McKesson to continue to expand with a well-known retailer while also increasing revenue. After establishing the alliance with Walmart, “Shares of McKesson rose 4.1 percent to $172.80 on the news” (Layne, 2016). The overall goal in both of these cases was to expand and reach people both internationally and local while increasing revenue. In the first example, it allowed McKesson to expand across Europe while with Walmart spreading across one of the leading retailers in the United States.
