It was Tuesday, March first, 2011, my mother woke me up so I can start getting ready for school. I rose with eager anticipation, just four more days until my thirteenth birthday and I just couldn’t wait. I brushed my teeth and hurried down to eat the complimentary breakfast offered to us by the hotel we were staying at. You see we had been staying at a hotel for the past five months because the home we had been renting was foreclosed on so the utility companies turned off the power and the electricity. We had to get down at just the right time so that there was a small crowd but a lot of food so that we can take food back to the room to save for dinner. After breakfast, we…

As you open your eyes, your ceiling screen displays the weather, time, countdown to the school shuttle arriving, as well as any current news. As your feet touch the ground, your path to the insta-changa lights up allowing you time to wake up. As you walk into the metallic tube, your dress choices according to the weather come up in front of you. You choose the one you are drawn to and immediately are completely dressed. You then move to the escalator that takes you directly to the kitchen chute where your waffles pop out, hot and ready just the way you like them. As you eat quietly you head to your…

The Peninsula Manila is my dream hotel. I really enjoyed my stay there and finally, my dreams came true. I have used to render my 500 hours there and I so loved it. I was assigned in the Housekeeping Department which are headed by Ms. Marimil Ermita, the Executive Housekeeper and Mr. William Ty, the Assistant Executive Housekeeper. I was so happy when I assigned in the rooms because I got a chance to see and learned all the things that I needed to experience and also to maintain the standards of the hotel by following Peninsula Behavioural Standards or PBS. Mr. William Ty had conducted an orientation. He discussed first the General Information of the hotel and I have learned so many things such as the history of the hotel including the Peninsula locations, Executive Officers of the entire hotel, Food Outlets, Function Rooms, Room Configuration and the most important, the Richey International. My first day in the hotel was wonderful because I had got to be assigned at the 3rd Ayala Wing. I have learned so many things through the help of my buddy Mr.Rio. By that time, my supervisor was Mr. Dan Derit. He used to be strict when it comes to work but he’s such a nice person. I was so happy because I was assigned in the floor where I can see the Lobby. Something not so good had happened to me but not that crucial. I only used to have a duty for one week in the rooms and I was having difficulties of cleaning the rooms because my eyes are blurred. I couldn’t see the damages of the linens and the dirt along the carpeted floor but I learned a lot because I had familiarized all of the stuffs needed in every room, the amenities, different types of rooms and most importantly was the cleaning of the entire room, the beddings, the dusting and also the machines that were being needed when making up a room.…

The weather seemed to be fine but the waves were less accomodating in making our trip pleasant. But it didnt detter our determination to cross it, although boarding it felt like riding on at least an hour of ferris wheel, we all felt nauseous. But at last we reached tagbilaran city with dizzy heads. Since it was already night time when we got there, we checked into the hotel immediately to rest. We reached Clifton at about 9 a.m. The site was very beautiful. Cool and refreshing breeze was blowing. First of all, we began to swim in cold water. After the bath we had tea with light refreshment. After that, some of us enjoyed camel-ride and horse-ride while others played at card and chess. It was now lunch time. Each of us had brought with us the best of dishes prepared at home. We all enjoyed our delicious lunch. Then we had an amusing program of songs and funny stories. Akbar entertained us with his songs. It was discovered that he was very good singer. After that some of us started playing football on the sandy shore. Some of my friends collected sea shells and colorful pebbles. Now it was evening. Graduation is one of the memorable days of my life. On my graduation, I was filled with butterfly in my stomach. I was like an ant in the crowd waiting to be crushed. The place filled with students and staffs and conversation was excitedly exchange from one friend to another. I wondered around the place looking for my friends who are already laughing excitedly with each other. After searching through the crowd of people, I finally found them. I sneaked on them and suddenly without warning I tapped on one of my friends shoulder and yelled out “HEY.” He jumped as if the earthquake has occurred. He turned around and said, “You scare the hell out of me, man.” We were all laughing and the conversation began once more. “So what do we do afterward?” I said. We started to discuss whether we went out to eat later or we go our separate way. My friends Cong asked me, “what do you think? Where should we go after?” I turned to my female friend named Phuong and asked, “Do you have any plan after this? If not, we should go out and celebrate, what do you think?” She answered me with no words but a shake of a head, and then she nodded for the two questions I asked. “Then its settle, we will go out and celebrate later.” I yelled “YEAH.” Suddenly, everyone started to run toward the field like lab mice ran back to its cage. We were like an army of bees brushed out of our hive with the common goal: going the football field where the ceremony started.…

I learned a lot from my experiences as an On-the-Job Trainee of Felis Resort Complex. First of all, I’m very much gratified for the support and understanding of my superiors especially on times when I committed mistakes. More than any learning thought in school, I learned to be with others, to work with people. I’m very grateful that they exposed me so much on what I must know regarding the work which suits my course. I’m very thankful that they treat me like them and they trust me with my work.…
