Why I Chose This Topic
I wanted to research this topic because I have been lifting for almost a year now without following a meal plan. I want to know how a meal plan would affect my body. I’ve always wanted a good body just like any other guy, and I wasn’t blessed naturally like some people. I have to work hard and eat healthy to get a good body. When I started lifting, I was technically obese and wasn’t happy with my body. I knew I needed to do something. My friend introduced me to the gym, and I fell in love instantly. I began my search on the Pro-Quest database. I used search terms such as meal plan and eventually added for weight loss. I found a magazine article called “Diet 911” by Joe Weider’s Muscle & Fitness. While the advice is directed towards one person, it is useful to anyone. The article gives some good tips and quick meal fixes for pre and post workout. On Pro-Quest I also found a research conducted by the Oregon Health Sciences University. The University did a one year study of randomized people comparing the long-term effect of prepackaged, nutritionally complete, prepared meals against a usual-care diet. This site gave me some good statistics, as well as a lot of other useful information that I can use down the road. The second search engine I used was the EBSCO database. By simply searching meal prepping, I found a great article over meal prepping and some cheap ways to prep; so if I decide to start meal planning, I will know what to do thanks to this site. The article also cited good research and documented the research well, so I knew exactly what they did. Another article I used wasn’t one I was really searching for, but it came up when I searched meal plan and it was very useful. The article talks about portion sizing and I think that’s a great topic that should be discussed when talking about meal
