Measure twice cut once.
"Measure twice cut once..." is what most carpenters go by, but it can also be used for a guideline for ones life. What I mean is when someone is going to make a decision that is going to affect their life in a big or small way They should think about it before they go doing immediately. Finding out that you've messed up hurts really badly.

I learned the hard way. My life was going good. I had decent grades at school, my family was getting along, and one Friday evening me and my older brother were running an errand for my mom. She was working at our Church doing some things with some of the other ladies of the church to help out for Sunday morning. She told us to pick up a pizza at Wal-mart and head to the house, so me and my brother got in his car and headed to Wal-mart. When we got there we went straight for the auto. accessories like we always do when we go toWal-mart. When we got over there my big brother was looking around and I was just tagging along so I said, "Lets get the pizzas and go" he said, "ok" reluctantly. So we went and got the pizzas and was headed to the checkout line and he said . "lets go back to the auto. Section for a minute." I said ok and went with him, when we got there he went straight back to the section where we were at before and picked up some tire-flies and began to open them. I said, "what the heck are you doing?" and he said, "I'm not paying ten dollars for these things" so he stuffed them in his pocket and put the package back on the shelf. I had a bad feeling about what was happening, so I said, "lets go."and as we were headed to the checkout line I had an overwhelming sensation of curiosity so I picked up a tube of candy and was planning on purchasing it and when I picked it up my hand went straight into my pocket. When my brother payed for the pizzas we were on our way out the door when two undercover police men walked up in front of us and said, "we want our stuff back" and put us in hand cuffs after we gave them the stuff we

The story started when one night I snuck out of my house to go to a party, as a result, that night I slept over at a friend’s house and found a ride home the next morning. When the car pulled into the driveway the morning after, I thanked the driver and walked up to my front porch with a sly smile to greet my obviously frustrated parents. As my mom ushered me to sit down on one of the chairs on our front porch, I know that nothing good is going to…

In document 1, the anti-sophist teacher and philosopher, Socrates, suggests that "The unexamined life is not worth living". This quote can be interpreted by saying that it is good to examine your life, or think over it with great caution, and not make mistakes. He recommends that it is good to discover yourself, know what you…

When she took the bait she had gotten caught because a few days later they said that she was using counterfeit bills to buy her things. So the cops brought her to the station to question her. She said that she hadn’t known they were counterfeit and said she had gotten the money from me. That's when the plan backfired. The brought me in for questioning and I said that I hadn’t know they were counterfeits and that I just found them in the grass one day. The questioning had ended there but not for my parents. They ground into my sister for taking the money from me and then started grinding into me to figure out where I had gotten the money. I told them that I got it from a friend so I could use it as a way to get Meradith, my sister, to stop stealing money from me and from them. They said it was stupid of me to do that because she could have been arrested and kept in prison for a long time and they didn't want that to happen I told them I had done it for the greater good and they just scoffed and scowled at me. From that moment forward I haven't talked to my family or anybody since then because I didn't want to be punished for trying to do the right thing. I haven't spoken to anybody about it, not even Mr. Meany. I’m glad…

"It is only with the heart that one can see rightly", was once said by Antoine De Saint-Exupery. This is an accurate quote to live by and refer to daily since following your instincts is usually the best decision for yourself. It leads you to do exactly what you want to do, instead of anyone getting to your mindset. This quote can also be shown in literature-characters go through hardships within there own minds. But when a third party expresses their own opinion of the problem then the character becomes confused and eventually withdrawled from what they really want. Accordingly, two works of literature that best show how following your heart(mind) is the better decision would be Tennesse Williams play The Glass Minagerie and Arthur Miller's play The Crucible. However, Tom and John Proctor are both faced with making a decision-good or bad, with help or not, a decision must be made. Along with problems in real life these two characters had to go with their "gut" instinct, and in the end-it was the best decision possible.…

Throughout life you are subject to hearing inspirational proverbs such as, “live life to fullest” or “you don’t know what you have until it is gone” but, as they are used so mundanely and you tend get older they to lose their punch. However, it is amazing how much effect a simple proverb can have until it relates to you on such a personal level. Some say that real people don’t get hit by lightning and suddenly realize that they should live their lives differently. I say bologna.…

Growing up, our parents taught us to care for us and teach us about life. Whether it be potty training or how to throw a ball, but one thing is for sure, from the moment we can understand emotions we are taught what is right and what is wrong. When we are infants and learning about the many shapes and colorful things around us we are told no when trying to put something potentially harmful into our mouths and praised when we take our first steps and our first potty break. And as we get older the right and wrongs of life become more and more complex and more consequences. However, the one wrong that parents most readily take action on is theft of any kind. Robbery and theft are one of the most common of crimes amongst children, adolescents, and even adults. Shoplifting, being a crime that is mainly the outcome of committing theft of any nature, is an action that is shameful and considered to be wrong even from the times of our ancestors.…

I have been caught three times stealing. All which had great distances in-between First, I was nine years old stealing candy and bubble gum from the local convenience store. Second, I was 14 stealing from the same store, but this time the product of choice was 3.2 beers. Finally, I was 17 caught at Wal-Mart stealing a stick shift knob for my car. I believe had I had harsher punishments the first time or first two times it would’ve stopped my bad trend a lot earlier than actually done. At such a young age I was just given a slap on the wrist, not made to do anything, and I believe that was the turning point in my head thinking I was invincible, and anytime I…

I look at everything in my life and ask myself questions about which ones are the most important. If something is getting in the way of my top priorities it has to be cut. I list things in order of importance and decide how much time I have and put them into that time and anything left needs to be removed from the list. Sometimes it’s hard to cut things you really want to keep but those are the decisions we have to make to keep ourselves in order.…
