Determining an appropriate and healthy diet for individuals has always been a great source of controversy. During the past century, there has been a trend toward vegetarianism. According to an investigation carried out by the ministry of health, there are many draw backs regarding the meat consumption.
The predominant attitude is that a healthy diet should be composed of every necessary ingredients including meat. But on the other hand, some experts point out to the elimination if meat from the daily diet. There are many reasons for this recommendation. Most importantly, despite many nutritional benefits of meat, there are some harmful side effects, which might reversely affect the one's health in the long run. Secondly, the scarcity of land in today's world and the fact that relatively more land is required for meat production rather than crop production are of great significance. Eventually, the benefits of crops and vegetables to human body should be mentioned.
Having looked at the issue from different aspects, the question arises as to whether official measures could be taken to reduce the world's meat consumption or not? I tend to think that it's a personal decision to choose one's diet as long as it doesn't have harmful impacts on others or the environment. So at my perspective, the measures prohibiting meat consumption by individuals are not appropriate. Alternatively, the efforts toward informing people about the setbacks of meat consumption and promoting the vegetables replacement, are highly recommended.
