To Begin with, I am a person who strongly believes that human beings are ultimately braced by machines to evolve their lifestyle to a greater level constantly. As I come from a family where agriculture is the primary occupation, development of complicated machines like tractors, power tillers have facilitated people in agriculture field to take a great leap forward by transforming their harvesting methods with bare hands to wheeled machines. These observations have intrigued me to develop the penchant towards the machines and the field of mechanical engineering. So, to achieve the goal, I have made a strong foundation by completing my Xth Standard and High school with 84 and 90 percentile respectively. The fact that I have scored 97% in high school Mathematics surely adds to my quantitative and analytic ability.
With this interest I further pursued my education in mechanical engineering as my undergraduate major at The Vellore institute of Technology (VIT) University. The unceasing inputs from my professors on core knowledge of mechanisms and materials …show more content…
My internship is about “Automatic transmission” and brake system of Dozers, dumpers. I gave a report on one of the basic problems they are facing, frequent change of brake shoe in these vehicles. The brake drum on which brake shoe aligns is made of a special type of cast iron that is heat conductive and wear resistant. But one problem with that is its ability to undergo corrosion. As these vehicles operate in mines where the rate of oxidation is pretty more the drum gets easily corroded and there is a need for frequent change of the brake shoe. I proposed a solution, stating that aluminizing of this brake drum will reduce the rate of corrosion which in turn reduces the necessity of changing brake shoe frequently. With reference to my contribution I was awarded with an appreciation
