| |purpose of licensure: the primary purpose of licensure is protection of the public, the|
| |NCLEX states that you are eligible to perform in a safe manner; it does not guarantee |
| |it just says you are able. It’s testing for basic education to evaluate if you can |
| |practice safely. |
| |role of nurse: The RN functions legally under state nurse practice acts, performs |
| |assessment, est. nursing diagnoses, goals, and interventions, conduct ongoing client |
| |evaluation, participate in developing interdisciplinary plans for client care, share |
| |appropriate info among team members, initiate referrals for client assistance, |
| |including health education, and identify community resources. RN uses 5 rights when |
| |delegating task (RIGHT TASK, RIGHT CIRCUMSTANCE, RIGHT PERSON, RIGHT DIRECTION, and AND|
| |RIGHT SUPERVISION). As a nurse you will be held accountable and responsible for your |
| |actions. The nurse must always use the code of ethics. Nursing is defined as |
