Abstract
This paper examines the roles that social media plays and will play and modern politics. Through media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, and Google+, citizens are commencing social and political change. This paper explores the way social media is evolving to create change and reform in various political arenas. This paper looks at published research articles to assess the impact that social networking sites (SNS) have had in the previous election and the effect that these sites will have in the future political landscape. The Evolution Of Social Media and Modern Politics
The growth and expansion of social media has had a dramatic impact on the way we communicate in the 21st century. Information is shared faster than ever through social networking sites (SNS). This effect can be felt through nearly all facets of society. From sharing personal photos with friends and loved ones, to learning about the latest fashion trends across the globe, social media has established itself as the quickest way to spread and share information. This effect can also be felt in the political world. Social media has been used by politicians to communicate directly with thousands of supporters at virtually no cost. Campaign organizers can relay information to voters instantaneously without getting in front of a camera. SNS sites already has made a lasting impact on politics today and will only continue to do so in the future. PC Magazine defines a “social networking site” as,
