With the increasing use of cell phones, the amount of people using their phones while driving are steadily increasing as well. Cell phone use while driving is as dangerous as other illegal activities such as drunk driving, and should be prevented by promoting stricter laws banning all cell phone use while driving.…
because if you have your cell phone out while driving you can cause injury or death upon both you and/or another individual either in your car or another. While driving you are to pay full attention to the road and where you’re driving to and not the phone it is a distraction. For an example, On July 10, 1998 a male of the age 16 sent his 18 year old brother who was driving home a text message saying to bring home food. Because of that text his brother crashed while in the middle of reading it and died because of the lack of attention he had on the road so his reaction was not fast enough. In 2011 in the United States 37% of drivers have sent or received a text while driving and at least 18% say they do it regularly.(“2011 Distracted Driving Statistics” - http://www.edgarsnyder.com/car-accident/cell-phone/cell-phone-statistics.html) Deaths which could have possibly been avoided happened to many people who have done so. Research has proven that it is difficult to concentrate on driving and talking at the same time. A recent British study showed that talking on a cell phone while driving was more hazardous than operating a vehicle while under the influence of alcohol. The results showed drivers' reaction times were 30 percent slower when talking on a cell phone than when legally drunk - and nearly 50 percent slower than under normal driving conditions.(<http://www.123HelpMe.com/view.asp?id=150549>)…

Did you know that, “Each day in the United States, more than nine people are killed and more than, 1,153 people are injured in crashes that are reported to involve a distracted driver” (CDC, 2014). It would not be an understatement to say that most of the distractions while driving are caused by a cell phone being used. Drivers need to be aware of the consequences and damage they can make in just one second. Young people talk and text while driving, they feel invincible and think it’s okay to break on other many laws we have out there. Driving while using a cell phone could be considered as bad as driving under the influence.…
According to the National Safety Council, drivers who use cell phone while driving are 4 times likely to be involved in a crash. This is because our brain can’t effectively multi-task. Have you ever tried watching your favorite tv show and hold a serious conversation? It’s a win-lose situation because you are going to miss the details from one of the two. Cell phone usage behind the wheel is very distracting to the driver. When people are on the phone talking or texting while driving, our attention is on our phone rather than the on road…
A cell phone wielding driver weaving in and out of traffic and drifting across lanes, because they are completely distracted by the device in their hand, may be all too familiar. When using a cell phone while driving, it impairs the persons driving abilities as much as a person with a 0.08 blood alcohol level. Think of the drivers that you pass daily; how many were using cell phones? Imagine if all of those drivers were drinking instead of using their cell phones behind the wheel. Cell phone use while driving is dangerous because it causes slower response time and reduces the situational awareness of the driver. The best solution to this issue is to ban the use of cell phones while driving.…
Using a cell phone while driving doesn’t only risk one’s own life, it also puts other lives at risk as well. If one is looking at their phone instead of the road they could be risking other’s lives in many different ways. Such as, missing an upcoming pedestrian that could be walking or riding a bike, missing a stop sign, or stop light, risking the chance of hitting another vehicle. Or, if someone were in the car with a person who is driving and using their cell phone, their life is then in danger as well. If the life of another person is put in one’s hands, they shouldn’t take want to risk…
Using a cell phone while driving distracts our mind. Distraction is an important risk factor of traffic injuries. Suppose, you are holding your phone on your ear, listening to the conversation, and managing your car all at once. You're not paying attention; you could miss a turn or not see something coming out into the road. This can be incredibly dangerous. Using a cell phone while driving distracts your mind obviously. It can cause your eyes off the road, hands off the steering wheel and mind off the sudden situation that can lead a dangerous accident and consequent may be sport death. Moreover, if you are speaking on cell phone being on the road you can not notice all traffic signals, may reach too close to other vehicle and find it very hard to keep a regular speed. The use of cellular phones has spread like wild fire in the last ten years. It has become a part of everyday life for many American citizens, and a good number of people depend on them to carry out daily operations. Unfortunately, many of these daily operations occur while the individual is driving. As a result, many accidents have taken place in the last ten years due to the use of cell phones while on the road. The leads me to believe that if people can’t concentrate on the road while talking or texting on a cell phone they shouldn’t have a cell phone near them at all while driving. I understand that restricting cell phone usage while driving all together isn’t the best means to solve the problem. Many good aspects come from cell phone use in a car. For example, accidents get reported to 911 rapidly, traffic updates occur more often because citizens call and report back ups, and drivers who need to be taken off of the road because of being intoxicated or just plain driving reckless will be located quicker and easier by the local police.…
