You hear about the success stories, you dream about working out of your home, and making that six-figure paycheck, but are you ready?
If not prepared you could be setting yourself up to fail.
Read on to get yourself thinking about if you are ready, and if not, what do you need to do get ready.
You know your “why”
You know your business, goals and objectives best. So, ask yourself, ‘why do I want to start my own business?’
Don’t just rush to answer that either.
Instead, think on it.
Perhaps you are thinking...
“I want to work out of my home to be with my kids.”
“I want to make more money.”
“I want to be my own boss.”
“I want to retire early.”
“I don’t want to rely on anyone else financially.” …show more content…
“I want to have a successful career.”
You will need to remember that WHY throughout your business building process, it's important, it's the difference between quitting and seeing your business from startup to success.
Your job no longer satisfies you.
We all have good and bad days but if you are sick of having a boss, getting paid by the hour, and being told when to work, then it's time to start your own business.
You are ready to make a change.
Are you ready to finally take the steps needed to change?
I love the quote by Tony Robbins, “Change happens when the fear of staying the same is greater than the fear of change.”
You are ready to work hard.
Business ownership is not for the weak of heart. Be ready to put in long hours. You won’t know everything and you’ll possibly face rejections. It's all part of the journey.
One day you will feel on top of the world and the next you will think, what am I doing?
You need to be able to handle these ups and downs and work
hard.
You’re good at managing your time.
One of the things I hear all the time is, “you are so lucky to work out of your home.”
Well guess what? It takes self-discipline.
No one is checking your hours, or making sure your work gets done.
You must learn to wake up and structure your day so that you complete all the tasks for that day and that your clients are happy.
You’re not in the midst of major life changes.
Sure, major life changes can bring about a desire to get a new job, get out of a relationship, or start a new business.
Make sure you have recovered from any big life changes in order to focus the energy needed to become a new entrepreneur.
You have a good support system.
Family, friends, and mentors should be forewarned to support and guide you through the business startup journey.
No entrepreneur can do it alone.
The opportunity to make a lot of money excites you.
If you’ve been dreaming of fancy cars, vacations, or just not having debt, you know that you are ready.
This was a big factor for me as a single parent because I wanted to raise my kids on my own without living paycheck to paycheck.
You want to have a career and business that you are proud of.
Yes, I still get that giddy excitement when I tell people I am a business owner, it never gets old.
You have experience in medical billing.
You do need some medical billing experience, I’m not saying you have to be the best. We have support for that at www.helpmybiller.com.
You do need to know the basics. If you do not, consider a side job to gain experience before you quit your day job.
You know how the revenue cycle circle works, or you are willing to find out.
This is a big one. Before starting your own medical billing business, it's important to know how to completely service a physician practice or clinic.
I work on specific offices on certain days and I have a schedule that I follow to make sure I don’t miss any important task or filing deadline.
Understanding the entire revenue cycle circle is a must.
You’re ready to learn.
You will learn, A LOT!
As a new business owner, you will find out more than you can imagine about business.
Be ready to learn those important lessons, in hindsight I wish I had been told.
Think of this as having your first child or pet, you look around and think, ‘piece of cake.’
However, when you actually do it you realize, ‘I really have a lot to learn.’
You have a plan.
I am probably one of a very small percentage who did not have a plan, I just hustled 24/7 and made it happen.
This is not the route I recommend. Having a plan, even something scribbled on a back of a napkin, will ensure a smoother road to success.

You can face the fear of failure.
Yes, you will fail at some point.
Yes, this will help you learn and most likely catapult you to another level in your business.
This separates the weak from the strong.
When you fail, you will need to get back up and try again.
You believe in yourself.
You must believe in yourself, if not your abilities at first, then believe in your inner lion, that strength that got you through those tough times, and assure yourself that you will succeed.
You are ready, what is next?
Don’t panic, now is the time to join the medical billing business hub’s membership and find out how to acquire doctors and be recognized as an expert in your medical billing business.
