Medical Marijuana: Help the People
My Opinion on Medical Marijuana Medical Marijuana, also known cannabis is the most used drug in the United States. The drug is legal in some states. I believe that Medical Marijuana should be legal in every state. It should be sold as a prescription to ill patients, not on the streets to be sold to teenagers. People don’t realize how much Marijuana can help someone suffering from very severe diseases like cancer and problems like insomnia. Medical Marijuana could make an enormous change in the United States. One reason why medical marijuana should be legal is to help cancer patients. Anticancer drugs can cause nausea and vomiting, because they irritate the stomach lining and affect the brain parts that control vomiting (Fiket). This makes it hard for cancer patients to eat. THC in marijuana helps relieve these side effects. According to the NCI, anorexia---loss of appetite or desire to eat--- is the most common symptom in cancer patients (Fiket). Again, the THC in marijuana helps to relieve pain and give the patients an appetite to eat. Their body is already being taking over by cancer and then when they start taking anti-cancer drugs, it get worse before it gets better. In my opinion more cancer victims would survive if they could get passed the anti-cancer drugs and marijuana is a way they can get through it. Medical marijuana could really help cancer patients. Another reason marijuana should be legal is to help people with insomnia. Sleep patients are often medicated with medicines such as Xanax and Lunesta, but the main problem they had with these medications and other medications like them, is that they wake up feeling groggy. Medical marijuana is known as a great and effective sleep aid. You get a great night sleep without feeling groggy in the morning. Patients can simply vaporize a small amount 30-60 minutes before lying down. Usually within 10-15 minutes they will be enough sedation to fall asleep adequately (“Medical Cannabis of Southern

    Marijuana was first used for medicinal purposes dating back as early as the 1600’s. However, a law was passed in 1930, which banned the substance.
