Emergency Medicine Personal Statement “If you have any medical experience, please let us know. There is a passenger needs your assistance.” The summer of 2015, I was on the flight to Taiwan after my 2nd year in medical school. There was a passenger that needs medical attention. Out of 350 passengers, I was the only one that had medical training. I volunteer and see what I can help. The patient was complaining of dizziness, nausea, and vomiting. Although I could not provide her with medication, she was relieved that someone tried to help her and even asked to sit next to me. The ability to build rapport with patients in a short period of time and detect the whole picture of a patient’s health, background, and culture enlighten me. Not only able to become the primary medical contact for the patient, but also able to witness the acute recovery of the patient’s symptoms draws me into this specialty. I’ve learned that the ability to reduce the patient discomfort is not only part of the Emergency Medicine Physician’s responsibilities, but is also one of the most satisfying aspects of the
Happiness flourishes after seeing patients become healthier; satisfaction pours through me when patient's condition improved. I wish I can have a profession that is able to make a positive impact in someone's’ life and able to provide at patients darkest moments. I look forward to start my residency to fulfill my dream and broaden my medical knowledge. I am ready put in full dedication to embrace new challenges and learning opportunities. I am confident that I will be a valuable member of the Emergency patient care team. It would be an honor to be able to practice and learn in your residency
