NIH was originated in the 1887 (established by the Marine Hospital Service) as a bacteriological laboratory in Staten Island called The Hygienic Laboratory. The laboratory name was soon changed to The National Institutes of Health in 1930.

HIPAA
August 21, 1996, President Clinton signed into law the 63-page Health Care Portability er Accountability Act of 1997 (HIPPA).
HIPPA went into effect nationwide on July 1, 1997. It affects all employers with two or more employees who maintain a group-or employer- sponsored health plan, regardless of how many employees are participating in the health plan. …show more content…
